Astana city is situated in
geographical center of Kazakhstan close to important economic regions and at the intersection of
main traffic arteries. Akmola was announced as a capital in December 10, 1997, and in May 6, 1998 under Decree of the President of
Republic of Kazakhstan it was given a new name - Astana. The same year in June 10, the international presentation of Kazakhstan new
capital was held in Astana.
Celebration of Capital's day
(June 10) became annual event in Kazakhstan. In June 2008 the new emblem of Astana was ratified.
In a basis of a symbol - a circle, as expression of idea of perfection
and eternity. The central element - association Bayterek and Shanyrak. This art decision is a trope of a vector of development of modern Kazakhstan which combines
in itself both a sign on city, and a symbol of the country.
In basis Bayterek the ornament " the bird's wings " - the stylized image of mythical bird Samruk is traced. All space of the arms is broken into two rings.
The external red ring symbolizes deep history of great steppe, associates with fire. In it turkis saw vital elements from which representation about a birth
communicated, growth and development. The internal ring of color heavenly blue contains the newest symbols of independence of Kazakhstan and greatness of Astana.
The climate is sharp continental.
Long winter is with rich blanket of snow and snow storms. The average January temperature is -14,
-18C and with frosts till -40C. At the end of March and at the beginning of April late but very beautiful spring comes. At this
period the step is particularly wonderful with iris, tulips and motley grass blooming. Moderately hot summer is rich in pouring
rains and clear sunny days. Average July temperature is +20, +24C.
The territory of the city that constantly increases due
to rapid construction is 200 square kilometers nowadays. The new center is
located on the left bank of Ishim river where fundamental development of the new capital of Republic of Kazakhstan is planned.
If the existing center (right bank) personifies city's past and present and its citizens the new center will symbolize its future.
Here favorable environment with shabby flora along the streets and lively parks will be created. People will be able to admire
the beauty of new architectural ensembles. The height of buildings will change smoothly. It will be achieved as a result of
restrictions imposing on buildings height according to their location.
Considering severe climate conditions during winter period covered promenades and pedestrian underpasses are foreseen in the city.
They will connect buildings and provide comfort for customers and working people regardless of the season.
